The mission of the Fibromyalgia Care Society of America, Inc. (FCSA) is to provide education, fibromyalgia care, and support services for individuals living with fibromyalgia, their families, and the community. Additionally, the FCSA is committed to offering trauma-informed care and educating medical providers about the diagnosis, treatment, and care of those affected by this condition while ensuring robust support for women.
We are actively working to expand the dialogue around women's safety through our commitment to Addressing, Redefining and Ending Femicide, while also promoting trauma-informed care and supporting women affected by fibromyalgia through comprehensive care.
We offer a wide range of programs and services to support women and girls in need, including specialized fibromyalgia care. From early intervention and advocating to end femicide and gender-based violence to providing nutritional resources, our trauma-informed care approach ensures we help those we serve achieve their goals and improve their lives.
The most stark statistical disparity between genders is in sexual abuse. The CDC estimates that 1 in 4 girls in the U.S. will experience child sexual abuse before turning 18 (compared to 1 in 13 boys). Furthermore, recent data shows that almost 1 in 5 teenage girls experienced sexual violence in the past year alone.
We are actively working to expand the dialogue around women's safety through our commitment to Addressing, Redefining and Ending Femicide. Traditionally, femicide has been narrowly defined as the physical murder of women. We challenge donors and policymakers to look deeper and recognize that our understanding of femicide must encompass the slow, systemic destruction of women, particularly those affected by chronic illness, such as fibromyalgia, poverty, abuse, and the unaddressed trauma of sexual assault. Our work emphasizes the importance of trauma-informed care and the need for comprehensive support for women facing these challenges.
Chronic survival mode alters a teen’s ability to detect environmental red flags. This makes adolescent girls who experienced early childhood trauma significantly more vulnerable to teen dating violence, sexual exploitation, human trafficking and long term chronic health conditions.
The FCSA is committed to offering trauma-informed care and educating the community about the diagnosis, treatment, and care of those affected by this condition while ensuring robust support for women who have survived horrific assault, abuse and systemic failures.
We are actively working to expand the dialogue around women's safety through our commitment to Addressing, Ending and Redefining Femicide, while also promoting trauma-informed care and supporting women affected by fibromyalgia through comprehensive care.
Basic survival should never come at the cost of well-being or self-determination. Through dedicated food distribution and community support, FCSA delivers essential nutritional resources to help families thrive. We stand in the gap so that no parent or individual has to compromise their boundaries or security just to keep their family fed.
